The map for X resort is incomplete. How do I fix this?
Ski map data is provided by OpenStreetMap.org and OpenSnowMap.org. Is the map for a resort incomplete? Please chip in by adding to the OSM database. You can check out this video I made here or the beginner's guide here. Keep in mind that the in app maps are meant to be used as a rough guide, but not a replacement for your resort map! I have come across errors in both the Google Maps and the OSM data since resorts change from year to year. For the most up to date map please refer to your printed resort map.
I updated the map info on OpenStreetMap.org but I dont see it on my map.
The map server is updated daily but your phone will reuse the map data already downloaded for 1 week. If you would like to clear that and have Snow Social re-download the data, goto profile -> Settings (the cog icon in the upper left) -> scroll down to and press "Clear Map Cache". Snow Social will now reload all new map data for online maps. For offline maps, you need to delete the data (see “How do I delete a map that I previously downloaded?” below) and re-download the data.
What do the different color rings around my friends' pictures mean in the "Nearby Friends" tab?
The different colors represent how recent the location data is for that friend. Green means that the location update was within 20 seconds, yellow is within 40 seconds, and red means over a minute. After 5 minutes their icon will be removed from the screen until new location data is received.
Is Snow Social always sharing my location?
No. Your location data is only uploaded if the app is recording. This will be the only time that your friends can see your location.
How do I download maps for offline use?
On the Map screen there is a menu button in the upper left of the screen (a folder with a down arrow). When you press it one of the options is to “Save map for visible area”. Make sure the entire area you want to download the map for is visible on the map before doing this. Because this process takes a lot of server work, there is a limit to how wide of an area you can download. Mapbox also imposes a limit on the number of areas you can have downloaded at once so don’t go crazy.
How do I delete a map that I previously downloaded?
On the Map screen there is a menu button in the upper left of the screen (a folder with a down arrow). When you press it one of the options is to “View Downloaded Maps”. In this table just swipe left on the map you want to remove and a “Delete” button will appear.
Where is the Android version?
It's on my list but it involves completely rewriting the program in Java. I'm only one person, I do all the work in my free time, and I've never even owned an Android device before. I'm hoping I will have it done this year but I was also hoping to have this app completely finished 6 months ago.
