2.5 or 3.0?

I’m not sure what to call the next version. I got inspired and re-did the stats page so that it’s fully customizable. This way you can see the stats you want, leave out what you don’t, and put them in any order you like. It also allows me to add additional stats without having to worry about layout issues. I’ve already added some stats as well as additional info (average slope angle, calories burned, downhill time, lat and lon) and there’s more to come.

2.1 release coming in HOT!

2.1 will be out tomorrow. The consolidation process is going well with the consolidated maps module all but finished. “This Year” Leaderboard is up and running as well. Next I will be moving to the “Track” page and then finally adding graphs to the stats page.

The improvements keep coming

2.0.4 is out! With stability issues resolved it’s time to work on improvements and polish. I’ve been meaning to ditch the chat module for a while both because of safety issues and also I’ve found Apple messages works better in areas with spotty signal like most ski resorts. In its place I would like to bring charts to the history page so that you can compare personal stats visually. I’ve also added a current season page to the rankings, I’m working on making the main page customizable so you can see the stats you’re interested in the most along with working on overall intuitiveness of the UI. I’m sure I’ll come up with more ideas along the way but as always I’m taking request. Just let me know on the feedback page.

Version 2.0 is Here!

Well…almost. It’s ready and as soon as Apple approves it, Snow Social 2.0 will be available in The App Store. What’s New?

-Topo (Topographic) Maps: This was a big request from backcountry skiers and snowboarders. With their feedback I’m going to continue to add more features that are geared towards them.

-Downloadable Maps: This is good for both resort and backcountry skiers and snowboarders. Sometimes the connection at your resort is spotty or you just want to save some battery by switching off your cellular. Now you can download maps ahead of time and still use them to navigate around wherever you are.

Getting Ready For The New Season and ver 1.1

Hope everyone’s been getting those legs in shape! The new season is here! A buddy of mine turned me on to Leg Blasters and I highly recommend if you want to take your game to the next level this season. Check them out here on Backcountry.com

In other news Version 1.1 is now available on The App Store. I cleaned up the default map style, fixed some bugs and added season totals in the history page. Development of the android version is on hold for now. Once I started digging into what it would take, I realized it was going to be a lot more complicated than iOS since all the different manufacturers run a custom version of android. This means instead of testing on 1 or 2 devices, I would need to buy and test on ALOT. Unfortunately as a one man operation, that’s not in the cards at the moment.

Launch!

After many months of hard work, Snow Social is finally available on The App Store.  What will probably happen now baring any major issues is development of the android version. I'm picking up a used pixel and hopefully it will be ready for testing at the beginning of the season.🤞

First!

When I originally started this site I didn't think I would keep a blog section.  Seemed cheesy.  Then I though it would be a good way to keep people up to date on whats going on with the app.

I snowboard almost every weekend in the winter.  I can't get enough. Unfortunately this season an injury kept me sidelined for a while which was a bad thing for my snowboarding but a good thing for the app. Development had slowed a lot since I'm a one man show and while the injury kept me off the slopes it give me a ton of time to work and grow the app. What started out as a stat tracker / find my friends / chat app has turned into what will hopefully be launching soon, Snow Social.

Right now its only for iOS but I'm thinking that this summer I will have time to port over to android (we'll see).  Right now I'm in the process of just ironing out the kinks and hopefully getting this thing published just in time for the end of the season 😭. c'est la vie.
